Shea
Butter Antiaging Benefits
Antiaging
skin care has become very popular. When describing a skin care
product, antiaging simply means the product contains ingredients
that can help your skin look younger. Antiaging skin care
treatments can be very complex, with chemical based ingredients
formulated to reduce wrinkles, improve skin tone, etc. However,
simple natural products also exist that do an excellent job of
improving the appearance of aging skin.
Shea Butter is one of the most effective natural antiaging skin care
products. It helps to improve skin tone
and elasticity and helps skin look smoother,
making wrinkling less noticeable. Shea butter also helps to even
skin tone and gets rid of rough, scaly, dry skin; making skin
softer and more supple. And, shea butter offers natural sunscreen
benefits. Shea butter should not
be used instead of a sunscreen product, however, shea butter does offer
minimal sunscreen protection, making it a beneficial moisturizing choice
to help protect skin. (The sunscreen protection
offered by shea butter is not sufficient to prevent sun damage.
It is important to use a sunscreen during sun exposure to prevent
skin damage.)
In order to experience the anti-aging skin benefits of shea
butter, look for products with high concentrations of shea butter,
(20% or more). Many products on the market have the name
"shea butter", but the actual amount of shea butter in
the product is not sufficient to be be beneficial to the skin. If
the amount of shea butter is not listed on the label, you can also
determine whether a product contains a high
concentration of shea butter by reading the ingredients listed on
the label.
Ingredients are listed in order of amount of the ingredient in the
product. The ingredients with the highest concentration are listed
first, with the lowest concentration ingredients listed toward the
end of the list. Products with shea butter listed near the
beginning of the ingredients list contain higher amounts of shea
butter and offer more of the antiaging skin
care properties of shea butter. For

Which
shea butter has the highest concentration of antiaging nutrients,
raw or refined?
Raw
Shea Butter: Raw shea butter
contains the
highest amount of antiaging skin care vitamins and emollients.
Raw shea butter has
not been exposed to a refinement process, therefore all of its
natural skin care benefits remain intact.
Refined
Shea Butter: Some of the
vitamin and nutrient content of raw shea butter is lost during the
refinement process, however, excellent antiaging skin care results can
be obtained with naturally refined shea butter products.
Shea
Oil (Shea Olein): Shea
oil is a powerful natural antiaging skin care ingredient. Produced
during the process of making shea butter, shea oil remains liquid
at room temperature. (Shea oil does thicken or become solid
when cold). Shea oil contains all the antioxidant rich nutrients found
in shea butter but it is much lighter in weight, making it a
superb light moisturizer. Shea oil can also be found in skin
care products where liquid ingredients are required to maintain
light texture, such as lotions and skin creams. For
